Prince George, B.C.

Prince George residents are encouraged to give to the Raise-a-Reader campaign Wednesday morning.

Volunteers will spend two hours gathering spare change to help support local literacy campaigns.

Public Library spokeswoman Andrea Palmer says people should watch for volunteers at drive-throughs.

"So wherever you like to get your coffee in the morning, whether it's Starbucks, Tim Hortons or even select McDonalds locations, you're going to see people in orange t-Shirts waving their hands at you and asking for all the small change in your console."

Once donations are totalled, a committee will be formed to decide which organizations will receive a literacy grant.

Volunteers will be collecting money from 7:00am to 9:00am on Wednesday.
