The Town of Vanderhoof has set up a new program to help immigrants feel welcome in the community.  The Ambassador program has been set up through the Good Neighbours Commitee to help address barriers and help ensure a smooth transition as new comers start living in Vanderhoof.  Diversity Coordinator Charlyne Smilinski says the Ambassabor program will also look at how to address possible labour shortages.

"In the near future and what we can do to ensure we are a welcoming and inclusive community," says Smilinski, "and that new immigrants do feel welcome and services are in place to support new immigrants and their families."

Smilinski says local residents are welcome to help with the Ambassador program.  Those interested can contact Smilinski at the College of New Caledonia in Vanderhoof.
