The City of Prince George has issued a request for proposals for the first accessible playground in the city.
Manager of Parks and City Waste Services, Flavio Viola, says work on the tender for the project is underway.
He says once bids come in and a contractor is selected, the park will be built at the old Duchess Park site.
"We're hoping to start as soon as we get the request for proposals from the contractors. Once we receive that, we'll have a better idea when the contractor is selected of their timeline."
Viola says the City is pursuing an accessible playground because community members say there's a need for one.
The goal is to have the playground fully built by the fall.
