NewsNew Asphalt a Must for Repaving
As Prince George council budgets each year for road repair, the cost of asphalt must be considered. And while prices have not risen much in the last few years, it's still a significant cost. But Street Operations Supervisor Mick Jones says in order to make sure unnecessary repairs aren't needed down road, only a limited amount of recyled material can be used. "From a roads perspective we need longevity, we can't sacrifice performance at any cost. Our roads are in a tough condition at this time and we need to do whatever we can to make sure that it's lasting," said Jones. Jones says even the contracted out services for road repair in the city do use up to 15% recycled asphalt in the new mix. The city's own patch jobs often contains portions of ground up asphalt from milled down roads. Most Viewed Stories
