Prince George Kin Centre upgrades are starting to take shape with the visible part of construction now underway.

CN Centre Manager Andy Beesley says construction started in May, but equipment only began appearing on site a month ago.

"The first thing the construction guys do is all the underground work.  So right now, they're digging up pipe and relaying the new piping and the new electrical cables and that type of thing," says Beesley.  "They'll cover that all back up in time for the PGX so the PGX can spread out a bit and use some of that space."

Beesley says once the PGX wraps up, Yellowridge Construction will begin tearing down Kin One.

He says that will make way for the construction of the new 750 seat arena for the 2015 Canada Winter Games.

The first change ice users will notice is new change rooms, which should be complete by the fall.
