This weekend will see many families around the province fishing for free in BC's rivers, streams and lakes.  All weekend families can go out to local lakes and fish without a license.  Family Fishing Society Executive Director Owen Bird says by having a free fishing weekend, more people will take up the sport.

"And show them that one its easy, two its fun and three it doesn't need to be expensive and its not something far away that needs to be done on special occasions," says Bird.

Bird says people can go tidal and freshwater fishing for free until the end of Sunday.  Wood Wheaton GM in Prince George will be holding a free fishing event until four this afternoon at their dealership on Highway 16.
