IPG Program Targets Resource Boom

Thursday, August 9, 2012 - 9:13 AM

Prince George, B.C.

How ready are Prince George businesses for a huge natural resources boom in the North?

That is what an Initiatives Prince George profiling program aims to answer.

IPG CEO Heather Oland says a directory has been produced identifying local businesses and their capability for handling and shipping export products.

She says the program is helping advance the capabilities of local businesses by discussing the needs and wants of large corporations across the country.

"With the companies' input, design some capability training opportunities for local Prince George firms that are looking to diversify their portfolio and their offering, so we can help them do that," said Oland.

Oland says the program also aims to help businesses grow.

IPG has been making use of consultant Charles Scott who also aims to create plans for local companies to find and recruit more skilled workers to help expansion plans.
