Body of Prince George Man Found in Carp Lake

Thursday, August 16, 2012 - 11:59 AM
By Julie O'Connor
Prince George, BC

After earlier searches by Mackenzie RCMP were unsuccessful, the body of a Prince George man has now been found in Carp Lake.

A 59 year old man had gone missing on August 5th when he jumped off his boat to get his hat, and disappeared under the water by the time his friends turned the boat around.

He was not wearing a life jacket.

RCMP and Search and Rescue volunteers as well as the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team searched the lake but were unsuccessful in locating the man after 5 days of searching.

Police say the family of the man hired a private agency who specialize in underwater recovery, and the team from Idaho had advanced sonar equipment and located the body yesterday.

The BC Coroners Service has now taken over the investigation.
