Penalties Coming to Those Leaving Garbage on Foothills

Prince George, BC

Sloppy loads headed for the regional landfill will soon come with a consequence.

The Regional District of Fraser Fort George is expected to begin penalizing anyone who brings an uncovered or unsecured load to the landfill.

This after a longstanding problem of garbage flying off vehicles and littering Foothills Boulevard.

Prince George Councillor and Regional District Director Dave Wilbur says clean-up plans include include signage and penalties on site.

"So if a person comes in with a pick-up truck and they just toss the stuff in the back and they don't have their tarp over it or in some way secured, there can be a charge against them."

District staff are expected to come back with a finalized set of plans for approval at the September board meeting.
