Lane Changes to Improve Safety, Traffic Flow

Prince George, B.C.

The final pieces of Prince George's summer re-paving program are being completed but there are still a few more road improvements set to appear.

After crews finished repaving Winnipeg street, the city changed lane markings in line with suggestions from ICBC.

"Going to one lane in each direction with the two-way left turn in the middle and the addition of the bike lanes going in each direction was a safety improvement," said City Transportation Supervisor Heather Andreychuk.

She says the addition of the centre turning lane also allows for better traffic flow.

She says a raised median will soon be installed on Winnipeg by 4th Avenue.
