Havana, August 29 (ACN) Bruno Rodriguez Barilla, Foreign Minister, reaffirmed the pledge today Cuba With a comprehensive nuclear test ban agreement.

The United Nations General Assembly has declared August 29 as the International Day Against Nuclear Tests with the aim of emphasizing the seriousness of the issue and the need for concerted action.
According to the official UN website, “Since the nuclear tests began in 1945, more than 2,000 tests have been conducted, which have had devastating consequences for humanity.”

According to that publication, this International Day is becoming more relevant given the fact that contemporary nuclear weapons are increasingly powerful and destructive.

However, the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (1996), an international tool to prevent these tests, has not yet been implemented.
