WASHINGTON, July 22 (EFE News) .- The number of weekly applications for the unemployment benefit rose to 419.00 last week, compared to 368,000 the previous week, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (PLS) said Thursday.
The new number for the week ending July 17 was 51,000 more requests than the previous week.
The average number of requests over the four weeks, an action to compensate for the weekly fluctuations, was 385,250 compared to 384,500 the previous week.
For the week ended July 10, PLS reported 3.23 million people receiving this social benefit, up from 3.26 million in the previous week.
Weekly unemployment demands, which reached 6.8 million in March 2020 as a result of the Govt-19 epidemic, are steadily declining, but current numbers indicate a break for the labor market recovery.
Since then, the number of new requests for grants has exceeded 365,000. There were an average of 205,000 requests before and several weeks after the onset of the epidemic.
