The U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC) noted this Friday that tropical depression is approaching Fred Cuba and threatening Florida in the southeastern United States, where it will strengthen on Saturday.
The agency said the sixth hurricane season in the Atlantic was 95 km northeast of Camage, Cuba and 505 km east-southeast of Cabo Hugo in southern Florida.
Fred moves in a west-northwesterly direction with winds of up to 55 km / h and strong winds of about 17 km / h.
The NHC, which expects the hurricane to intensify in the next few hours, has issued tropical storm warnings for the Florida Headlands and the Florida Bay.
The center is overseen by the Cuban provinces of Seiko de Evila, Gamage, Los Tunas, Holguan and Granma. And another part of Florida, which extends from North Key Largo in the southeast of the state to Englewood in the Gulf of Mexico to the west.
“Depending on the planned route, Fred is expected to move north or north of the eastern and central regions of Cuba overnight,” the Miami-based NHC said.
He then added, “It will approach Florida headquarters on Saturday” and “West Coast of Florida on Sunday,” he added.
The Met Office has warned that the storm could turn into a tropical storm during the day. For that to happen, you need to achieve a maximum lasting wind of at least 63 km / h.
According to the U.S. Meteorological Service’s antenna in Miami, Fred will receive heavy rain in Florida, especially on the state’s east coast.
