Who Is El Chapo’s Son?
El Chapo’s son’s name is Ovidio Guzman Lopez, who was born on March 29, 1990. He is one of four children from his father’s second marriage.
Ovidio Guzmán López is a Mexican drug lord and a high-ranking member of the Sinaloa Cartel, a criminal organization based in the state of Sinaloa.
He is allegedly connected to the powerful Sinaloa cartel (Guzman-Loera Organisation). After their father was arrested and extradited to the US in 2017, Ovidio and his older brother Ivan reportedly took over the drug gang.

Where Is El Chapo Son Now?
Ovidio was caught by Mexican security forces on Thursday, January 5, 2023, a week before US President Joe Biden came to Mexico.
On January 5 night, Culiacan, Sinaloa, was shut down by violence, and that’s when the arrest happened.
Before 5 a.m., the National Guard saw a group of armored cars and pulled them over to check them out. They told the people to get out, and when they were already on the ground, they started shooting with high-caliber weapons.
When they stopped the attack and received assistance from the Army’s Ninth Military Zone in Sinaloa, they discovered Ovidio Guzmán in one of the cars and immediately arrested him.
But some news sources have confirmed that he has been moved to Mexico City while he waits to be moved to a prison with the highest level of security.
Who Is El Chapo?
Joaquin Archivaldo Guzman Loera, commonly known by his nickname “El Chapo,” meaning “shorty” in English, was a Mexican drug lord who headed the Sinaloa Cartel, a criminal organization named after the Mexican Pacific coast. He rose to power in 2003 after the arrest of his rival Osiel Cardenas of the Gulf Cartel and became one of Mexico’s most wanted men.
The US Department of the Treasury recognized him as the “most powerful drug trafficker in the world.” He was considered a “principal leader” of the Sinaloa Cartel and earned the nickname “El Rapido” for his ability to quickly transport drugs from Mexico to America for the Colombian cartels. Prosecutors say that he made US$12.67 billion via the drug syndicate, and as of February 2012, his net worth was estimated to be over $16 billion.
He was found guilty of trafficking massive amounts of cocaine, heroine, and marijuana while running the Sinaloa Cartel in a US court. A US District Judge ordered Guzman to forfeit $12.6 billion after his conviction. He was transferred to a supermax, super-maximum security prison in Florence, Colorado. Having escaped from prison twice before, he will now spend the rest of his life behind bars. El Chapo is married to Emma Coronel Aispuro, who was also jailed in 2021 for trafficking drugs and laundering money for her husband’s Sinaloa Cartel.
What Is El Chapo Son’s Cases?
In 2019, Ovidio was briefly taken into custody, but the cartel responded by starting a full-scale war on the streets of Culiacan, which forced security forces to set him free.
According to Sun, The US State Department has also said that Ovidio and his brother are in charge of 11 meth labs in Sinaloa state that make up to 2,200 kg of the drug each month.
Authorities think he is also responsible for the deaths of informants, a rival drug dealer, and a famous Mexican singer who refused to sing at his wedding.
